Hirosada, 1819-1863 went by the surname Konishi as well as Utagawa. He was also believed to have been Sadahiro who worked 1830-46 and was known for doing woodblocks of portraits of Kabuki actors. He was an Osaka artist and did many prints of the Kabuki performers.

- Kiyochika
Kiyochika Kobayashi (1847-1915) was a Ukiyo-e painter and a printmaker. He was the son of a minor government offical. He studied Chinese and Japanese painting but turned to woodblock printing. He had considerable sucess, did a book of the Sino-Japanese War. He was one of the last of the important ukiyo-e printmakers.

- Toshikata Mizuno
Toshikata Mizuno 1866-1908 was an illustrator, and studied woodblock printing under Yoshitoshi. He lived in Tokyo, and later studied painting with Watanabe Shotei. He had many pupils including Kaburagi Kiyokata. He created war triptychs as well as genre scenes.

This artist has been referred to as the only full-time professional designer of actor prints in Osaka. Born in 1803, he changed his name to Shigeharu. Designed bust portraits later in life using the name Kunishige. He died in 1853.

Migita Toshide (1863-1925) was born in Oita-ken, he went to Tokyo when he was quite young to study with ukiyo-e under Yoshitoshi. He then studied western style painting. He worked for the newspapers and did woodblock reporting of the was scenes, and he also did portraiture.

Toyokuni III also known as Kunisada (1786-1864) Lived in Tokyo and worked as a painter and print maker. Studied with Toyokuni and took the name Toyuokuni III in 1844. He illustrated books and did actor portraits. Early in his career he did landscape prints too.

- Yoshitaki
Yoshitaki Utagawa (fl c. 1850) Studied under Yoshimune. Worked in Tokyo and Osaka, but is known as the leading designer of actor prints in Osaka. Won many prizes. He was a member of the Kamagata-e school. He mainly did the full figure in his actor prints.
Yoshitaki, one of the leading Osaka artist, was the son of the paste merchant. His earliest prints were published when he had barely entered his teens. By the time he was twenty, he had firmly estabished himself as the leading theatrical protraitist in Osaka, a position that he held for at least twenty years. His son, Kawasaki Kyosen, wrote an interesting article on his father“s practice as an artist. It shows the tremendous pressure Yoshitaki and his comtemporaries worked under, and enables us to understand the conditions that led to the decline of actor-print design in the second half of the nineteenth century.
