The Gilbert Luber Collection

Welcome to the Gilbert Luber Collection. Gilbert, a CPA, and wife Shirley, a commercial artist, made their first visit to Japan to celebrate their 25th anniversary. They quickly fell in love with Japanese prints, both the antique as well as the contemporary. Once home in Philadelphia, Gilbert began an in-depth study of Japanese prints, and they returned the following year to make more purchases...and the next year, and the next year...for 20 years thereafter...and that's how it all began! Originally opened as a gallery to the public, the Gilbert Luber Gallery was the first gallery in Philadelphia to handle the works of Japanese artists -- the old as well as the contemporary. We hope that you will enjoy visiting the web site and seeing just a small portion of the prints from the Gilbert Luber Collection.

A Note From Shirley Luber

Welcome to the Gilbert Luber Collection. Please take the time to visit all areas of this web site and enjoy all the marvelous Japanese artists that are featured here. Throughout the years Gilbert and I have collected and studied Japanese artwork by both traveling to Japan and getting to personally know the artists. Interacting with the artists directly has given us great insight into the symbolism, history and heritage that is proudly presented throughout their works.

Once again, I hope you enjoy just a sample of the extensive collection that we have amassed throughout the years. If you are interested in viewing, purchasing or learning about the collection beyond this web site please feel free to contact me. All prints that you see are available for purchase.
